Chapter Development Coordinator

Job Description

The Inland Ocean Coalition (IOC), a project of The Ocean Foundation, a 501 (c)(3), seeks an experienced part-time Chapter Development Coordinator. The IOC’s mission is to create an inland movement that builds land-to-sea stewardship, and we are looking for someone to help support and expand our network of chapters across the country.

The Chapter Development Coordinator will work from home and the IOC office in Boulder, CO for approximately 20 hours/week. For the right candidate, we will consider applications outside of the Boulder/Denver area.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with IOC Advisory Board Chapter Development Lead to develop best practices for recruiting, supporting, and growing chapters
  • Create a plan for chapter expansion and growth with support from IOC team
  • Update chapter handbook
  • Assist chapters in best practices of IOC program implementation, event planning, and fundraising strategies
  • Share programs, marketing, and outreach materials amongst chapters
  • Assist chapters with social media best practices and grow social media reach
  • Manage and track chapter responsibilities, accomplishments, and finances
  • Coordinate monthly newsletter contributions
  • Recruit new chapters from interested communities, colleges, and high schools around the country
  • Support new chapters through the application and contract stages
  • Manage member database
  • Work with chapters to maintain a web presence
  • Schedule monthly chapter conference calls
  • Assist with grant submissions and provide support in writing, budgeting, and organizing grant and funding asks
  • Support Advisory Board Chapter Committee
  • Some weekends, evenings, and travel may be required



  • Must be computer savvy and proficient in WordPress, social media platforms, excel, Hootsuite, Canva and/or graphic design software
  • Positive attitude, resourceful approach, and comfortable with a highly collaborative work environment
  • Self-starter, able to initiate work, complete tasks, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects with superb accuracy and a smile
  • Keen interest in environmental/watershed/ocean stewardship
  • Strong organizational and networking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or several years of work experience in this field
